The folk rock group, AMERICAN ZEN, of Shaolin Records, are Disciples of mine.

My pet project.

All my students are my children.

I take a lot more responsibility for my students than most people take for have for their own children.

I feel a 'need' or 'desire' to help people. Which means I can be disappointed when people don't 'need' me and when people don't share my 'desire' to improve or learn something new.

Some Karate teachers have said it is foolish to care so much about your students. Perhaps that makes it easier to punch them out in class.

My own mother said she'd rather see me working at a Burger King than staying home to raise my kids.

My father-in-law encouraged my wife to pursue marriage with a co-worker of hers because he made more money than me.

My wife left me for another man saying, "I love you, but I'm leaving you for financial reasons."

So remember, there is no Kharma in the world. No matter how much love and compassion you put out there, do not expect it to come back to you.

The Chan Buddhists, don't really believe in reincarnation, as much as most Buddhists do.

Bodhidharma was rejected from the Emperor's Court of China, because he wouldn't acknowledge to the Emperor that all his temples and acts of goodness changed his place in Buddha's Heaven.

Luck, is probably more realistic -- if you want to 'believe' in something.

I believe that all my good deeds makes me lucky.

Not in the normal sense of the word.

I just figure, maybe a few more people will notice my compassion or my wisdom, and maybe a few more people will say something nice about me, and maybe someone will hear it, and say, "Hey! I wanna meet that spiritual guy!"

That's lucky.

So I have a Buddhist laboratory project, American Zen.

A Buddhist folk rock band that will strive to portray their journey through life while pursuing the enlightenments of Buddhism.

Let's see how they do.
