BUDDHISM BASICS page 38 Where is the Dharma in Your Life?"Dharma" is a cool word. But not one that people in American recognize. Maybe 1 in 100. I will continue to use it. Maybe I can popularize that word, here in America. "Righteousness." Another word, more recognized, but not used, except in a negative manner, "Don't be so righteous.!" "Don't be so 'high-and-mighty!" "Mr. Goodie 2-shoes." "No more Mr. Nice Guy." We only use nice words for negative reasons now. I used to. When I was a kid, if you were selfish, they say, "Don't be so Jewish!" Or if you wanted something back, usually even for the right reasons, "Don't be an Indian-giver!" So, if you were a righteous, high-and-mighty, goodie 2-shoes, nice guy, Jewish Indian... no one would like you? By the time I was a teenager it was an insult to be called a "Boy Scout." We've all become numb to the prejudice, or the laziness, or the apathy of our world. "It's none of my business," is the American motto. Perhaps I will inspire people to be more friendly by liking who they are first. Perhaps I can help people to be happy with their life by teaching them to shed their past. Perhaps I have written a short journey to improve the paths many people will walk. Call me what you want. I feel good about what I've done here. Ah, those feelings. That's the point of this website, and another one I created, actZEN.com If you are balanced, in harmony, content, and know what your path is -- enjoy your feelings. Just because feelings usually cause us trouble, doesn't mean when can't enjoy them also. So feel good about yourself. Feel good about your life. Feel good about your path. Feel good? I hope so.
