BUDDHISM BASICS page 36 Buddhist CeremoniesAs Americans, we lack ceremonies. Even our holidays are sports events without ceremonies that the audience participates in. The world has become less ceremonial. Marriage is less ceremonial. Death is less ceremonial. Even our GRADUATION CEREMONIES only require one trip to the altar then back to their seat -- with a handshake and the passing of a rolled up graduation certificate. That's it. That's the ceremony. On the other side of the coin, I grew up in Catholic Churches that spoke Latin. I participated a lot, but I didn't understand what I was saying.
